Western Cape Mom Tells Matrics to be Courageous

November 06, 2020

35 year old Delft single mother Tania Februarie, who together with more than 95 400 candidates in the province, prepared to start their final exams this week.

Wishes of encouragement filtered in from across the country.

Februarie, writes her matric exams in honour of her late son Jaden who died suddenly earlier this year. She attended the valedictory service where she handed over the inaugural Jaden Februarie History floating trophy. History was Jaden’s favourite subject.

The pair would have been writing their national senior certificate alongside each other as Februarie enrolled with the motive of inspiring her son to complete his matric year.

Jaden died in February after contracting a respiratory infection.

Despite a challenging year, Februarie said she would not give up and would persevere.

Februarie said Jaden was her inspiration. He was excited that they would be doing their matric exams together and would have been so proud.

We wish Februarie and the other matric candidates the best of luck with their exams
