Traffic lights on K43 Klipspruit Valley and Nirvana intersection are finally operational

July 28, 2022

By Neelam Rahim

There has been a problem with the traffic lights on the K43 Klipspruit Valley and Nirvana intersection for an extended period, several months of issues where the traffic lights were not working.

They are now functional, with a lot of effort put in this regard which has taken a while to get to this point. Radio Islam discusses the update with Khalil Mohammed.

According to Khalil, GRA used to maintain those traffic lights at one stage and then the Gauteng Department of Road and Transport took over. With constant reporting and pressurising them between the community and counsellors, they have got working.

He says the work started about two days ago, and finally, the traffic lights are operational from this afternoon.

The responsibility for these traffic lights, including the entire K43 entering Lenasia to Lenasia South till the Ennerdale turnoff, currently falls on the Gauteng Department for Road and Transport, which is a provincial road, he added.

Essential to know under which jurisdiction the roads fall. Khalil tells Radio Islam one needs to speak to the correct entity.

He also says there are currently other issues being looked at in Lenasia.

Currently, they are on Nirvana Drive. Also, having a look at restoring the lights between Shiraz Delta and the Lenasia extension 5 clinic, he added.

“Credit needs to go to the community and the councillors involved,” says Khalil.
