The National Development Plan and The Fight Against Corruption

If corruption continues unabated, the National Development Plan will fail. It demands an anti-corruption system that makes public servants accountable, protects whistle-blowers and closely monitors procurement. Efforts to eradicate corruption must include the private sector and individuals by increasing public awareness and improving access to information. While the NDP had been accepted by everyone from President Jacob Zuma to the broad public as an exciting roadmap to South Africa’s future, implementation starts at the bottom and should include ministers, public servants, unions and business. Ml  Sulaimaan Ravat put the issues on the table with the Director of Corruption Watch, David Lewis, the leader of the United Democratic Front and seasoned politician Bantu Holomisa and Adriaan Basson, award winning journalist, writer and editor of Beeld newspaper during a syndicated broadcast on Radio Islam, Radio Ansar and Voice of the Cape
