Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Mansour vs Sisi Government: Battle won,War over?

June 25, 2015

By Ejaz Khan

Radio Islam’s Mufti Moosagie spoke to Olaf Boehnke ,Director of European Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin about the detention and subsequent release of Aljazeera’s Ahmed Mansour, Al Jazeera journalist, arrested on Saturday at the request of an Egyptian court.

“Looks like A definite mistake, he was here doing an interview, and then on his way to the airport at Berlin he was arrested by the security
There was a warrant against him so he came into custody”

As to what the probable reason for his release was:

“The Egyptian authorities request didn’t match german standards on International relations so they released him…”

Interpol already turned request for Mansour’s arrest down in 2014

His views on whether his arrest whether Mansour’s arrest was Politically motivated :

“I don’t think it was politically motivated. Maybe from the Egyptians it was, but definitely not from the German side.”

“It should not be possible for any foreign government to use German legal system for their own agenda’s”

The Egyptian justice system have put a lot of people in prison and issued many death sentences, so people like Mansour have that fear of being ‘taken out’ because he is openly critical of the Egyptian governments polices, but hopefully he will be safe.

“In general , this type of international warrant is nothing actually to complain about, if people who do break the law and run away to other countries, they must be able to be arrested or be apprehended internationally.

“Freedom of opinion to criticize policies should be a guaranteed right, a basic law for everybody.”
