Radio Islam received recognition amongst SA’s Top Radio Station’s at the MTN Radio Awards held over the weekend, taking the Top Award for Special Event/Promotion of the Year with the outstanding Women of Wonder (WOW) Tribute. Head adjudicator of the awards, Lance Rothschild spoke to Radio Islam on air and congratulated the station on winning the Award, and also for acknowledging the efforts, struggles and striving of Women. Radio Islam was victorious against over 212 entries competing for the award.

Rothschild also said that the WOW Tribute entry was much loved by all the Judges, and Radio Islam had done well to drive emotions and create a talking point: “It is an eye opener for society in general, and  show’s the Station’s social commitment” He added.

The second award, the Judges Commendation award, was given to Radio Islam, after Judges were impressed by the Stations overall submissions, and earmarked Radio Islam as a Station to watch out for, warning shot of sorts to the big Boys of the Radio industry.

“We would like to dedicate this award to all the participants in the wow tribute, Radio Islam staff who worked tirelessly and selflessly to make WOW and our other programmes a success, and most importantly, all The listeners of Radio Islam” said Radio Islam Programs Manager Moulana Sulaimaan Ravat.

Station Manager Ml Haidar Dhorat added "that on this joyous occasion we would like to thank the Almighty for his many favours and we make dua that this award propels us to greater success, Ameen."
