Zuma Reshuffles Cabinet Yet Again

October 17, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 17-10-2017

President Jacob Zuma has announced yet another reshuffle to his cabinet.

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has been replaced by Hlengiwe Mkhize, former Home Affairs Minister.

Buti Manamela has been appointed her deputy.

Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo will replace Mkhize as Minister of Home Affairs.

Energy Minister Mmamaloko Kubayi will now serve as Minister of Communications.

State Security Minister David Mahlobo has been appointed Energy Minister with Bongani Thomas Bongo replacing him.

In a statement, Zuma said that after careful consideration he decided to make the following changes to the National Executive.

This is the second cabinet reshuffle this year after Zuma axed five ministers in March, which included then Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas.

Gordhan was replaced by Malusi Gigaba.

Last month Blade Nzimande was oblivious to the cabinet reshuffle when asked if he would be the first to be axed.

Nzimande lauhed and replied: “I don’t know anything about that, it’s your own media speculation. So I can’t really comment about that.”
