Zak Park & Vlakfontein Residents Furious After Water Outage

January 03, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 03-01-2017

The ward councillor for Zakariyya Park and Vlakfontein says technicians are  attending to a fault at Lenasia high reservoir which has caused a water outage in both areas.

Residents are fuming after a lack of water or low water pressure for the past three days.

Joburg Water says a possible pump failure has left the water storage facility empty with the reservoir currently on bypass using a generator.

Local ward councillor Ace Mokenyane says the city of Joburg has made contingency plans to supply residents with water.

“Now we are supplying JoJo’s to the areas that are highly affected in Zakariyya Park and Vlakfontein. We’ll continuously follow up in terms of what is the main problem in order to make sure the water be connected anytime soon in those areas that are affected.”

He says residents will be updated on the situation via a public meeting.
