The number of white and Indian South African youth wishing to leave the country has increased, a survey by Pondering Panda has revealed. Spokeswoman Shirley Wakefield said 2606 respondents aged between 18 and 34 participated in the survey, where they were asked if they wanted to live in the country for good or if they wished to live in another country. Shirley Wakefield said that 25 percent of young people said they wanted to live somewhere else. She added that when they re-ran the survey recently the figure increased to almost 50 percent. Wakefield said that they saw a decline in the hope effect survey in the country. She added that in other surveys it showed that young South Africans don’t feel the leaders of the country are giving them future prospects, especially around unemployment. Corruption and crime also come out time and time again, she said. Politics was ranked at number 9, but shot up to number 3 in ranking amongst young South Africans. She said that young people don’t drastically change their opinion across a number of topics. Wakefield added that they are engaging with young South African on a daily basis. She said the tests are developed to gain a quicker response.  She added that within 24 hours, between a thousand and three thousand people can give them their opinion on a range of topics.
