Wits Investigating Voice Note Calling for White Students to be Killed

October 05, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 05-10-2016

While Wits University management has decided to suspend all academic activity until a general assembly that has been set down for Friday the institution says it’s investigating source of voice note calling for white students to be killed.

The university says it’s aware of a voice note that has been circulating amongst students claiming that at least one white student would have to be killed for vice-chancellor Adam Habib to take their demands seriously.

The institution says its legal and security departments are trying to trace the source of this message.

The university’s Sharona Patel says they believe the voice note is a scare tactic to those students who want classes to resume.

“It has been spread through social media to students, parents and staff. Basically the clip were believe is being used as a scare tactic to scare people from coming onto campus especially those who wanted to stage a counter protest to the feed must fall movement.”
