WhatsApp Rolls Out Coloured Text Status Feature Update

August 23, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 23-08-2017

Messaging service WhatsApp has rolled out a new way for iOS and Android users to “update their status and express themselves”.

Until now users could only upload photos or videos as a WhatsApp Status.

But the new update allows user to choose a font, background colour and even a link, to their profile status.

WhatsApp says the new feature makes it easy to share creative text-based status updates.

“Now you never have to worry about getting the word out to all your family and friends. Whether you’re looking for vacation recommendations or notifying a group about the address for a party, the text-based status feature allows you to update your contacts in a fun and personal way.”

Users can also control who can see their “Status” updates by choosing the option in WhatsApp’s privacy settings.

Other features include replying to an update of a friend by tapping the reply option. A message will be sent in a WhatsApp chat with a thumbnail of the “Status” update.

In addition you can also see who has viewed your Status by tapping the eye icon at the bottom of a status update to view a list of contacts who have seen the update.

WhatsApp is one of the mostly widely used messaging app in the world which now has 1 billion daily active users.
