WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger services have been restored.

The platform went down for users across the world on Friday.

It’s unclear what caused the outage.

The three apps  all of which are part of the Facebook company share common technology.

WhatsApp was unable to connect to the server, and messages were not being delivered.

Users saw error alerts when they opened the app and were unable to send or receive messages.
