Captain Xoli Mbele reported in a media statement from the office of the Johannesburg District Commander Major General Masha today that JHB Central Cluster Stations and JMPD apprehended a total of 254 suspects during crime combating operations conducted on Friday, August 19th 2022, and ended on Sunday, August 21st 2022.

The suspects were arrested in Brixton, Mondeor, Sophia Town, Fairlands, Langlaagte, Booysens, Moffatview, and Johannesburg Central.

Two suspects were arrested for murder, two for house robbery, nine for domestic violence, one for business robbery, two for theft of motor vehicles, thirty-five for possession of drugs, one for possession of unlicensed firearm and seventeen for drunk and driving.

The others were apprehended for a range of crimes, including malicious damage to property, possession of suspected stolen property, shoplifting, theft, fraud, assault common, assault GBH, selling liquor without a license and undocumented persons.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in various magistrate courts on August 22nd.
