Hundreds of Palestine supporters have converged at the Durban harbour in KwaZulu-Natal to support The South African Trade and Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) dock workers who are refusing to offload a cargo from the Israeli Zim Shinghaian container ship at the port.
The SA BDS Coalition joined Satawu, other unions and affiliates in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.
Palestinians achieved a victory in the conflict with Israel on Thursday as thousands of people celebrated in Gaza after a ceasefire came into place.
The ceasefire brokered by Egypt was agreed on Thursday evening and came into force on Friday after international pressure to stem the bloodshed by Israel which erupted earlier this month.
Palestine supporters chanted in chorus for their support for Palestine.
“With our blood, with our soul we will defend you oh Palestine.”
Earlier, Middle East Monitor correspondent Motasem Dalloul told Radio Islam on the blessed day of Jumu’ah the faith and will of the Palestinian resistance achieved a victory with minimal resources against Israeli occupation forces.
