Renowned Muslim scholar Moulana Sulaiman Moola says while language is a barrier between humanitarian organisations and Rohingya Muslims, kindness is a language even the blind can see and the deaf can hear.
Ml Moola is accompanying the Al Imdaad Foundation to distribute much needed aid to more than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh.
Rohingya refugees have streamed into the neigbouring country with Myanmar since the end of August, cramming into ill-equipped camps and makeshift shelters near the border town of Cox’s Bazar.
Comforting a Rohingya refugee Fazlul Rahman who lost all his belongings when he fled, Ml Moola says the Muslim ummah haven’t forgotten about the Rohingya Muslims.
“I just assured him that we love him and he’s a dad to us. We love you my brother for the pleasure of Allah and the Muslim Ummah of South Africa supports you and we haven’t forgotten you and your likes. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said ‘honouring a believer is to honour an elderly man who has become aged in Islam.”
Ml Moola says every cent donated towards the assistance of the Rohingya Muslims makes a difference.
“In some form, shape or size with the grace of Allah we’re trying to rescue them from their pain and agony. May Allah reward you all. Let us reflect, introspect, be grateful and appreciative and continue supporting the cause.”
Ml Moola will be giving a report back about his trip to Bangladesh with the Al Imdaad Foundation at the Houghton West Street Masjid on Wednesday just after 8pm.
