UUCSA Convenes in Johannesburg

February 26, 2022

Umm Muhammed Umar

February 20 and 21 February saw the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) convene in Johannesburg for meetings and engagements. The Council’s members took part in a program held by the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa for Masjid boards and trustees.

Two founding elders of UUCSA, Hadhrat Maulana Abbas Jeena Saheb of Jamiatul Ulama South Africa, and attorney Ebrahim Dockrat, the first secretary of UUCSA, both attended.

The Association of Muslim Accountants and Lawyers (AMAL) on good governance of Islamic Jamaats and organisations held a presentation, which incorporated a vigorous panel discussion on the political climate in the country, as well as the responsibility of Muslim citizens of South Africa.

A special program was also held, in recognition of and gratitude to, professionals who have unselfishly assisted UUCSA with their expertise. Maulana Abdul Khaleck Allie, President of UUCSA, launched the event, which saw insightful presentations delivered by former Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Enver Surtee, and former Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi.

Meanwhile, on the 21st February, UUCSA member organisations met to deliberate a raft of issues impacting South African Muslims, with ongoing healthy discussions being held, and resolutions taken, for the advancement of Muslims, and other peoples, of South Africa.
