Using social media to market your business

Social media marketing uses platforms to connect with an audience to build your brand, increase sales, and drive website traffic.

It involves publishing great content on your social media profiles, listening to and engaging your followers, analysing your results, and running social media advertisements.

Speaking to Radio Islam, entrepreneur Faheema Mohammed said that everyone is aware of Facebook and Twitter and so forth, but the ones she wants people to be mindful of are TikTok and YouTube.

YouTube is one of the fastest growing social media platforms, and the content creator behind that needs to be discussed.

YouTube is about creating your brand USP (UniSelling Proposition) and how the brand can add value to your customer.

The videos show your customer how your brand could impact their lives and make their lives easier daily, so they will come back and buy your product.

Regarding management tools to use on social media, Mohammed said that there are a lot of things available on the internet, for example, It’s Fantastic, HubSpot; and the other is Facebook, where they have free programs where people can go onto their platform and go through their course and generate content through them.

You can also schedule your content through these platforms, which makes life so much easier; therefore, people should not look at social media like, “oh my gosh, this is so much to do”, but should see it as small steps, build that confidence in that specific area and then grow from there.

Social media is about brand messaging, allowing corporates to add value to their brand adds. Several brands, for example, Coco-Cola, have a non-profit division, and all big companies have divisions that reflect how the brands have added value to the community and use that to add value to their brand. Hence, people want to create something they can relate to, for example, Cancer or HIV or any of those things.

So people should find one non-profit in their area and show how they can add value to that organisation.

It’s also adding brand value by giving back to the community in the same light.

Mohamed said that listening and communicating with the customer is vital. She noted that engagement and especially quality engagement with the client is critical, and that’s why she didn’t mention Twitter for a reason because Twitter is one of the most highly apt of social media. After all, although they are a short context regarding the number of characters you can use, people have more interactions on those platforms.

Mohammed said that people should see which platform works best for their interests.

She added that Google is a fantastic social media platform also. Getting people to review and post about your products or service will give you a star rating reflecting the trust and credibility that people have in your brand.
