British Prime Minister Theresa May says U.S. President Donald Trump was wrong to retweet a video from a far-right British group which she reiterated was “hateful” and spreads division.
The President had earlier caused outrage by retweeting three anti-Islam videos posted by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of the far-right UK party Britain First.
The inflammatory videos showed people purported to be Muslims carrying out assaults and, in one video, smashing a statue of the Virgin.
May says she is clear that that retweeting from Britain First was the wrong thing to do.
“The fact that we work together does not mean that we’re afraid to say when we think the United States has got it wrong, and be very clear with them.”
May says she want the US-UK relationship to continue – “It is good for the world.”
