Penterosa and Model primary schools in Lenasia have closed their gates after two teachers have tested positive for COVID.

In a statement, Penterosa Primary says a teacher based in the foundation phase tested positive for the Coronavirus, but  had no contact with any of the learners.

At the same time Model Primary says a teacher at that school has also contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Both schools say they have done the necessary procedures, informed the relevant authorities about the infections and will undergo sanitisation and cleansing.

Penterosa and Model Primary says the schools will be closed until further notice for the safety of all leaners and educators and that they will inform parents when the institutions will be reopened.

Earlier in the week, Harmony Primary also closed its doors after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19
