Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 14-06-2018

The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) has confirmed that two people have been killed and another injured at the Malmesbury Mosque in Cape Town.

It’s understood the two people who were killed on Wednesday evening were sitting in seclusion in the Mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan.

The MJC says it’s shocked by the incident and urged the Muslim community not to speculate on the circumstances of the attack.

Spokesperson Mischa Daries says the MJC president and his deputies will update the community on the incident.

“The Muslim Judicial Council is shocked to its core to learn of a brutal attack on the Malmesbury Masjid in the early hours of this morning. We can confirm that two people have been killed while they were perform I’tikaaf and another regular Musallee of the masjid was also injured. We don’t have any further details as yet, but we are urging the community not to jump to any conclusions until clarity can be given.”
