Sun City has confirmed that two people have been injured after a hail storm hit the resort and the North West region of the Pilansberg and surrounding areas.

In a statement, Sun City says the storm struck yesterday afternoon causing damage to buildings and vehicles.

It says most of the damage was caused by flash flooding at the Sun Central family entertainment precinct and in ground floor hotel rooms.

“Two people sustained injuries from slipping on wet floors. They were treated at onsite clinic before being transported to a nearby hospital.”

Sun City says the estimated number of rooms affected include 80 rooms at the Soho Hotel, 40 rooms at the Cabana’s, 30 at the Cascades Hotel, 26 at the Vacation Club and 20 at the Palace.”

It says contingency plans are in place and mop up operations are underway to ensure normal operations resume as soon as possible.

“Visitors intending to travel to Sun City are advised to first check with the respective hotels they are booked into before travelling to the resort.”

Sun City says guests whose accommodation was affected have been provided with alternative options while others have opted to leave the resort and return home.
