I am writing this for all my Muslim brothers and sisters who have converted (or reverted) to Islam, and have had the courage, against all odds, to stand firm on their beliefs — no matter how great the cost. I want to convey the sorrow I share with many of my fellow brothers and sisters in Islam.
* Britain's High Class Are Flocking to Islam
After all this I see not the reasons of my shyness, my regret, my inferiority complex that is stopping me from even performing my Jumu'ah Salaah amidst my colleagues at work only because of the fear of what will people say and that my business may lose important profits, yet the kingdom headquarters, Buckingham Palace, has such facilities?
* Why Did I Embrace Islam – Dr. Abdul-Karim Herbert –
My only convincing answer to this question is that Almighty Allah in His Glory helped me in admitting the Greatest Truth and testifying to the biggest reality to the world. I, however, know fully well that human nature and its disposition refuse to be convinced of certain facts and realities without satisfactory proofs and cogent arguments.
* Views of Reverts About Islam
The simplicity of Islam, the powerful appeal and compelling atmosphere of its Masjids, the earnestness of its faithful adherents, the confidence inspiring realization of the millions throughout the world who answer the five daily calls to prayer – these factors attracted me from the first.
* I Embraced Islam – Zain Muhammad
I was born into this world an American Christian, a Southern Baptist in the deep heart of the mythical south: Mississippi. Always a sensitive child, given to prayer and Bible reading, I believed in what my elders taught me: that God was One; and God was Three; that Christ Jesus was the Son of God, yet also WAS God; that the Bible was the infallible word of God despite being written and compiled many years after the "crucifixion of Christ/God."
* Ex-Gulf War Veteran – ABDULLLAH
During the Gulf War between the United Forces and Iraq he was posted to Saudi Arabia. Abdullah was shopping in a Saudi market. He picked up an item from the shop and agreed to pay its price to the shopkeeper. However when he was about to pay for the article the call for prayer was heard from a nearby Masjid. The shopkeeper said, "That's it," and refused to do any business after the call for prayer. He then closed his shop and hurriedly went to the Masjid.
* America Muslims – SUZAN
During the Islamic marriage I explained them that it was mandatory for the husband to give Mahr to his wife. It can be in coin or kind. I also reminded them that Mahr is the personal property of the wife and she can use it the way she chooses. Husband has no say in it throughout his life. Abdul Qadar eagerly agreed to pay Mahr. Suzan was amazed to see the respect accorded to a woman in Islam and the way her rights were preserved. It definitely strengthened her Islamic Faith. This situation took place in the State of Maryland.
* American Muslims – REHANA
Rehana was now a different woman. She covered her head like a model Muslim woman. She wondered why many born Muslim women do not adhere to Islamic dress code. She wanted her children to be educated in full time Islamic school. She was continuously educating herself. She demanded tapes from her husband of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) lessons offered in the Masjid to enhance her educational activities and Islamic growth.
* Imaam Siraaj Wahhaaj
It was the time of the campaigning for the American Presidential election. It was in full swing. George Bush, Bill Clinton and Ross Perro were throwing as much dirt at each other as much as law permitted… Siraj started his speech like this. "I was reading the Quran last night. I was surprised to read about George Bush in it. Yes, you heard me right. I read about George Bush in the Quran last night. In fact, I also read about Bill Clinton. Both were mentioned in the Quran in the same place. Ross Perro was mentioned in the Quran as well. I did not have to read lot of the Quran since all three were mentioned in the beginning of the Quran… I can even give you the exact verse. Then he recited the verse, "Summun Bukmun – Umyun fahum laa yarji'oon? (They are deaf, dumb and blind. They will not return to truth).
* James Ali Abiba
He went on to college and graduated with Islamic history major. He was a well known leader of Muslim Student Association at his University campus, College Park, Maryland. He married a Muslim girl from India. Both of them started teaching at Universal Islamic School in Chicago. Last time I met him was at an ISNA convention. He was in a special dress with a big green turban on his head. I asked him, "Now what is this?" He said, "Mr. Ahmad please don't talk about it." Obviously he had joined a spiritual group.
* Kathy
I started reading it. It happened to be an English translation of the Quran. It was fascinating. The more I read the more curious I became about Islam. It was totally different from what my professors taught me in the University. I said to myself, "Were my professors lying?" Anyhow the true Islamic values offered by the Quran satisfied my mind and conscience. I said to myself, "If this is Islam, it is wonderful I want to become a Muslim."
