Tow trucks go on strike

October 18, 2007

300 tow truck drivers flashed the vehicles lights and blared their emergency sirens as they went on protest action this morning in Johannesburg.

They also handed over a memorandum to a representative of the insurance company Mutual and Fedral.

Tow truck drivers are members of the SA Motor Body Repairer’s Associaton.

The discussions include re-negotiating commercial terms and establishing fair labour rates for repair centres.

The unusual protest attracted spectators and traffic officials had their hands full controlling traffic.
