Tornado Hits Utrecht in Kwa-Zulu-Natal

The South African Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado has hit Utrecht between Newcastle and Dundee in KwaZulu-Natal.

The SA Weather Service says the tornado swept through the area after eight o’ clock on Friday night.

This is the third tornado to hit KwaZulu-Natal this month after tornado’s hit New Hanover and Bergville in the Midlands.

Forecaster Wayne Venter says there is a watch out for possible severe thunderstorms today in KZN.

“At the moment damages that we received, we have some roofs blown over, some houses being destroyed as well as cars moved, a lot of trees being damaged as well. Today we do expect another round of severe storms in the area and north eastern parts of KZN as well.”

Venter says there are no reports of any injuries.
