Three people have been killed in an attempted house robbery in Roshnee near Vereeniging.
Paramedics say the owner of the house, Zohra Balisher Cassim who was believed to be 66-years-old was among those shot during the break-in this afternoon.
It’s understood three suspects entered the home and demanded money from the elderly women before one suspect shot her and and then turned the gun on his accomplice and himself after they were accosted by the local security company who were alerted to the incident.
Netcare 911’s Athlenda Mathe says police were on scene for further investigations.
“When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on the scene, we found that three people had already died. One of those deceased is believed to be the owner of the house, which is a woman. We can confirm the deceased are two women and one man.”
At the same time the police’s Lungelo Dlamini says they are investigating cases of murder following the incident in Roshnee.
“While they were surrounding the house, the suspect allegedly shot the victim, his accomplice and himself. The third suspect managed to escape and was arrested a few blocks from the scene.”
