Three Arrested for Hijacking at Trade Route Mall in Lenasia

April 23, 2016

Faizel Patel, 2016-04-23

Three men aged between 25 and 35-years-old have been arrested at Trade Route Mall in Lenasia for hijacking a motor vehicle.

It’s understood the police received a tracker signal for a Mercedes Benz after it was hijacked in Kibler Park, south of Johannesburg yesterday.

The police’s Mack Mngomezulu says officers followed the tracker signal to the Trade Route Mall were they monitored the vehicle before charging in.

“While they were tracking, came a Ford double cab. One of the passengers jumped off and went to the car [Mercedes] and that is when they arrested them. When they searched the Ford they also found an unlicensed rifle.”

Mngomezulu says the suspects have been charged with hijacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm and are expected to appear in court soon.
