The US and South Korean forces have conducted their first combined air drills

July 16, 2022

By Neelam Rahim

Charlie Maeng, CBS South Korea, speaks to Radio Islam International.

According to Charlie, the primary purpose is to defend Korea from possible attacks from North Korea, also armed with nuclear weapons.

He says the US F 35 A has the most advanced functions in combat hence the interest in its participation. Both Korea and the United States tried to perform combined operational capabilities in case of emergency and also try to deter North Korea’s provocative actions through strong alliances between two countries. That’s why they need well-functioned combat play.

He added North Korea might get angry. North Korea’s foreign ministry has already given a solid threat to the Korean government. If Korea and the United States conducted a joint military exercise, including poor assets, it would cause nuclear war by confrontation in this region.

Charlie tells Radio Islam; that currently, there is no dialogue with North Korea. Even though the Korean government tried to give particular necessities in aid to North Korea, including the Covid-19 vaccine. There is no response from North Korea.

In late May, China and Russia vetoed new UN sanctions that would have been imposed on North Korea, and this was in retaliation for its continued ballistic missile test.
