A few weeks back, whilst interacting on social media, I asked people why they are thankful to their child’s madrassa teachers, and the responses were simply amazing.
As parents, we don’t think about it, but madrassa teachers spend hours lesson planning, providing the care needed to shape and mould our children to become Islamic leaders of tomorrow. Most do so without payment or for a small fee but go the extra mile to ensure our children hold onto and love Islam.
Madrassa has changed substantially over the last decade, and many teachers now teach younger kids with love and understanding and become firmer as the years go on. They fill in for us in conducting our children who are tired from school with compassion. They are the real heroes of our community.
So as a parent, understand their role and give them the respect they deserve. If you are told that your child did not do homework, instead of making it seem like their fault, understand their value and what they are teaching your child today will be lessons your child will hold on to for the rest of their lives.
