August 02, 2018

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2018/08/02

With less than three weeks to go for the start of the Hajj pilgrimage, the number of pilgrims coming from outside Saudi Arabia has now reached 567,459 so far, since July 14th.

The General Directorate of Passports in Saudi Arabia in a report stated that the number of pilgrims coming by air has reached 558,505, 4,600 by land, and 4,200 by sea.

Radio Islam correspondent Moulana Junaid Kharsany who currently finds himself in Madinah Munawwarah, says the ‘city in all of its grandeur and splendor’ has prepared itself well for the arrival of millions of Hujjaaj this year.

“One of course commends the relevant authorities that they ensured that Madinah Munawwarah remain as clean as possible Alhamdulillah, within their capable means.”

Ml Kharsany says dozens of Hujjaaj are expected to stream in to the Kingdom in the next few days.

“I am on my way to Makkah, I will be there this evening, but just in front of me are groups from Mali and Cameroon, no less than 400 Hujjaaj, this is Madinah Munawwarah continuing to receive Hujjaaj throughout the next few days.”

Ml Kharsany adds that the South African group of Hujjaaj over the past few years have developed themselves in a sense that many make an effort to learn about the Hajj pilgrimage before departing.

“People are coming with a lot more information, practically everybody seems to have gone for some classes, and educated themselves on the right manaasik of Hajj and the etiquettes.”

Governor of Makkah, and chairman of the Central Hajj Committee Prince Khaled Al-Faisal says Indonesia is in the forefront in terms of the number of pilgrims attending Hajj this year.

“With 103,000 pilgrims, about 93,000 pilgrims arrived from India, 82,000 from Pakistan, 45,000 from Turkey, more than 12,000 from Iraq.”
