With the cost of load-shedding said to be exceeding the R1.2 trillion mark, it is evident that the financial impact is more serious than we see daily.

Rumours are making the rounds that we could be headed for Stage 16 load-shedding; it cannot be said how true that is at this stage. The current stages have already impacted most industries, not forgetting our economy. Before any higher stages get implemented, the government should examine how ordinary South Africans’ lives will be affected, including businesses.

Although many businesses have come up with solutions to keep their companies going, it has come at a hefty cost, as this means that they would have to let some people go to balance their financial equations. And as it stands, South Africa is already facing a high unemployment rate.

There have been talks about solar power, but more research needs to go into whether it will be of quality and also f it will be cost-effective because many people will try to sell solar systems that are not of the correct standard hence someone qualified should be one direct point of contact in this regard.
