Thabo Bester was arrested alongside his girlfriend, Dr Nandipha Maguduman and a Mozambican national known as Zakharia Alberto, who is believed to be the one who has been helping them cross different borders. The South African government had put a team of specialists together to track and trace the escapee and his accomplice.
The team could track the duo after a red notice was put out via Interpol. The trackers monitored their steps before apprehending them. Bester and his accomplices were arrested before they could enter the Kenyan border with multiple passports in their possession.
Bester and Magudumana will be deported to South Africa to face trial.
