Taxi Drivers Gunned Down in Orange Farm

August 18, 2014

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2014-08-18

Four taxi drivers were killed in a shooting in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg on Monday in what appears to be taxi-related violence.

“JMPD officers have since arrested four suspects and recovered two firearms,” said JMPD’s Inspector Edna Mamonyane

Two taxis which were involved in the incident were also impounded.

“The suspects were taken to the Orange Farm police station where a case of murder and possession of firearms has been opened.”

“Police will establish whether those firearms are legal.” said Mamonyane.

It was unclear whether those killed were taxi drivers or passengers.
