Taxi Driver Shot Dead in Lenasia CBD

A 50-year-old taxi driver from the Lawley Taxi Association has been shot dead in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

It’s understood the driver was getting into his vehicle near them FNB bank in the Lenasia CBD this afternoon when he was attacked by 5 armed men brandishing firearms and rifles.

The polices Hector Netshivodza says the motive for the killing may be related to taxi violence.

“A taxi owner who’s 50-years-old was shot dead at the parking area next to Lenasia FNB. The deceased had multiple gunshot wounds over his body. He was certified dead at the crime scene by the paramedics. The suspects fled the scene.

Netshivodza says police are investigating a case of taxi violence and no arrests have been made.
