A 36-year-old taxi driver from the Lawley Taxi Association has been shot dead in Lenasia South in what is believed to be an apparent hit.
It’s understood the taxi driver was offloading passengers near the Lenasia South clinic today when he was accosted by a group of armed men in a maroon car.
The police Kalipha Mvula says a female passenger was also wounded in the attack and rushed to the Lenasia South Clinic for further treatment.
“One of the passengers got off the Toyota Tazz. He started firing five shots directed at the taxi driver. One of the bullets hit the driver on the cheek. The driver passed away at the scene.”
Mvula says no suspects have been arrested and a case docket of murder has been opened by the Lenasia South Police Station.
