With the last American soldier having left Afghanistan on Monday night, the country has gained full independence after twenty-years of US occupation.
The Taliban have hailed the US withdrawal as a victory for Afghans and a lesson for other invaders.
The Taliban is now in full control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of the US and its allies.
The group dealt a humiliating blow to the US, snatching a military victory that saw the movement capture all cities including Kabul in just 10 days.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid addressed journalists on the Kabul Airport tarmac on Tuesday morning.
“Listen to me, no Afghans will surrender to force. The way Americans left Afghanistan is a good lesson for the future generation, they were damaged financially, it’s a good lesson for everyone else, it’s a historic day no doubt, it’s a free country, it’s a sovereign country. America was defeated, they could not achieve their targets through military operations and on behalf of my nation, we want to have good relations with the rest of the world.”
Ex-Guantanamo prisoner and the Director of Outreach at CAGE Moazzam Begg welcomed the historic day.
“It’s over, I pray it never starts again.”
Last week marine combat veteran of the Vietnam War and senior editor of Veterans Today Gordon Duff told Radio Islam, the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan was twenty-years too late.
It’s over, I pray it never starts again. #AfghanistanOccupation #Afghanistan
