A 26-year-old man arrested for plotting to kill father has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Jibraeel Mohideen together with his three co-accused, domestic worker Emily Mchunu, Joshua Nxumalo, and Zandisele Mtshali appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s court this week.

Mchunu has also been charged conspiracy to commit murder while Nxumalo, and Mtshali have been charged with murder.

The four are accused of murdering Pietermaritzburg businessman Ashraf Tajoodeen last week in what appeared to be a staged armed robbery at his Scottsville home in KZN.

Police earlier said Mohideen, Mchunu, Nxumalo, and Mtshali made detailed confessions about the planning and execution of the murder.

Public Eye Martizburg reports all four have been remanded in custody and are expected to be back in court on the 23rd of this month for a formal bail application.

The State has indicated that it would oppose bail to protect the safety of witnesses and accused.
