Suspect Arrested for the Murder of 80-Year-Old Darsot

May 14, 2015

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-05-14

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of 80-year-old Mohammad Darsot who was found dead in the boot of his car on the 29th of April.

Darsot together with two staff members from his shop were travelling home from prayers when they were hijacked in Fordsburg.

Darsot was found dead in the boot of his car in Dobsonville.

The police’s Kay Makhubela said the suspect that hijacked Darsot is also responsible for the murder of Soweto mother Charlotte Ramohai.

He  said the suspect was identified during an ID parade when he was arrested for the murder of Ramohai.

“The suspect who appeared today for the murder of a 34-year-old woman who was hijacked in front of her daughters school was also linked to a murder case of an old man who was found in the boot of car in Dobsonville.”

Ramohai, a pregnant mother of two, was gunned down in full view of her children outside her daughter’s Braamfischerville school last month in what appears to have been a hijacking.

The two hijackers made off with her car, which was later found abandoned in Dobsonville.

Mlungisi Twala made his first appearance in the Protea Magistrates Court this afternoon for the murder of Ramohai. It’s understood he was out on bail for a third hijacking case after he was arrested last week.

Makhubela says Twala will be back in court next Tuesday on both charges.

Twala has been moved to the Dobsonville Police Station where an identity parade will be held tomorrow.
