Suspect arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend soon after been released by the court

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in Hlogotlou, Polokwane, for killing his alleged girlfriend, Zindle Mokoena (21), soon after she was released by the court yesterday, following an incident that happened in Monsterlus village outside Sekhukhune during which the deceased assaulted and seriously injured the suspect on Tuesday, 04 October 2022.

The deceased was arrested on charges of Assault GBH after the couple allegedly had an altercation at the man’s house, and the woman stabbed the boyfriend with a sharp object. She was arrested on Thursday, 06 October 2022 and appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Friday, 07 October 2022, where she was released on free bail.

The victim, after that, visited the local tavern and her boyfriend, whom she had assaulted, arrived at the pub at about 19:45 and dragged her to her house, which is next to the pub. Upon arrival, he stabbed her several times, killing her instantly.

The suspect was arrested on the scene after police were notified. Police have opened a case of murder.

In a media statement, The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, lieutenant general Thembi Hadebe has slammed the incident and called for harsh consequences against the suspect, who should have never taken the law into his hands.

The suspect will appear at the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 October 2022, facing a charge of murder.
