With the blessed and holy month of Ramadaan just a little over two weeks away, Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) a UK based non-profit making NGO is calling on Muslims to the 'Check the Label’ – Boycott Israeli Dates' campaign by holding a national day of action on Friday the 21st June 2013.
The 'check the label' campaign has grown significantly over the past four years and achieved significant and great success due to the hard work, time and dedication of the ambassadors.
The FOA have helped promote the campaign in cities and towns across the UK by taking responsibility for distributing leaflets, putting posters up in masjid’s as well as speaking to shop owners about the campaign.
Every year, Israel exports millions of pounds worth of dates to the world, which many people unknowingly buy and use to break their fasts. These dates are grown in illegal settlements in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, on land that has been stolen from Palestinians. By buying these dates, Muslims are in fact helping Israel to continue its occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people.
FOA is requesting all consumers to ‘Check the Label’ and not to buy dates from, Israel, West Bank or Jordan Valley.
Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) was first established in 1997 and now has an international support base. It’s a UK based non-profit making NGO concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the sacred al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem. This vision is supported by various international groups and organisations.
