Spur Bans Man After Heated Argument in Restaurant

March 21, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 21-03-2017

Spur says a white man who allegedly threatened a black woman is not welcome at any of their restaurants across the country.

A video of the altercation between the man and woman last week Sunday at the Texamo Spur at the Glen shopping Centre has gone viral.

The man apparently approached the woman to alert her that his daughter was being bullied by her child to which the woman responds that his child was the one who started the bullying.

The spat became ugly when the man threatened to hit the woman while she hurls profanities and accuses him of bullying her and reminds him South Africa is a democratic country.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Spur condemned the incident saying staff and management tried to intervene, but were pushed away numerous times.

“We are very disappointed that children were exposed to this type of behaviour. The gentleman in that video is not welcome at any Spur restaurant nationally. We do not condone any forms of violence again women or children, irrespective of the circumstance.”

South Africans were outraged over the incident on Human Rights Day taking to social media to express shock and disappointment.
