South Hill residents affected by water stoppage, again

Residents of South Hill, located in the South of Johannesburg, have gone close to a week without any water.

On Tuesday, residents barricaded the streets and blocked off roads, demanding that Joburg Water provide water.

Water trucks have been deployed, but aged residents have told the media that getting to the water tankers was difficult and affected their physical health.

Ward councillor Faeza Chame told the media that this is not the first time South Hill residents had no water. In July, the residents have gone without water for nine days.

Due to the ongoing disruptions in the area and the Covid-19 regulations, schools have been forced to close, and learners are losing valuable teaching time.
