International Relations Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for African Affairs Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Kattan have reaffirmed the importance of strengthening South Africa-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations in all fields.
Sisulu met with Abdulaziz Kattan in Johannesburg on Monday following the recent State Visit by President Ramaphosa to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two Ministers reflected on the outcomes of the state visit and committed to implementing the high-level decisions emanating from the visit, including the pledge by the Saudi Government to invest US$10 Billion (R 148 billion) in South Africa.
Sisulu’s spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mabaya says the Ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments including the pledge made to South Africa by Saudi Arabia.
“The president did go to South Africa earlier this month and among the resolution that took place was that we will strengthen our relationships and this meeting is a follow-up to that one to discuss among other things the investment Saudi Arabia would be making and details will follow immediately after that.”
Sisulu also stressed the importance of all countries adhering to and respecting the principle of non-interference by any country in the internal affairs of other countries, regardless of the reasons or justification.
