South Africa has breached the two million COVID-19 mark.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says South Africa has racked up 24,270 infections over the past day with the known caseload ballooning to 2,019,826.
Three hundred and three more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus.
These latest fatalities take the country’s known death toll since the start of the pandemic to 61,332
On the recovery front, over 1,773,930 people have recuperated.
The NICD says the majority of new cases are in Gauteng with 14,198 infections, followed by the Western Cape with 2,606 cases.
South Africa is currently under lockdown level four as the country battles the Delta variant and third wave of the pandemic.
