Sulaiman (Solly) Bux, a shopkeeper from Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal who assisted deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and his family financially 40 years ago while completing his law degree has passed away.
It’s understood Marhoom Solly Bux passed away on Saturday.
Referring to his financial assistance to Zondo’s family, Marhoom Solly Bux told Radio Islam in 2017, he tries to help people who are in need as much as he can.
“As Muslims we always to try and help people wherever it’s possible. A lot of school kids come there (to his shop) to get some money for books and clothing. So we always used to help them in that way to encourage them to carry on further.”
In a tweet, the Zondo & Bux Educational Trust says it is saddened by the passing away of its Chairman Mr Solly Bux and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Bux family.
“May God grant the family and all his loved ones forbearance and patience during this difficult time.”
The Zondo and Bux Educational Trust was established in 2018 after a recognition dinner held in October 2017 to recognise and pay tribute to Marhoom Solly Bux for the assistance provided to Judge Zondo some forty years earlier.
The Zondo and Bux Educational Trust says Marhoom Solly Bux was appointed chairman of the trust since inception and will be missed.
May Allah grant the Marhoom the highest stages of Jannah and Sabr-e-Jameel to his family, friends and loved ones.
