Plunging temperatures brought substantial snowfall to the southern region of Aseer in Saudi Arabia this past weekend. Aseer is in the South Western part of Saudi Arabia.
The snowfall, which is a rarity in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia was brought on by the lowest recorded temperature in 5 decades. Temperatures, as low as -2 °C, were experienced in the rocky region.
The mountains and, deserts covered in a white blanket of snow saw locals and foreigners flocking to the plains, marveling at the sight. Others took to social media to show off the rare sight of camels standing in heavy drifts of snow instead of dunes.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates experienced extreme weather of their own. Severe downpours left parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah flooded.
