Smart Ways to Own the New Apple iPhone 8

September 12, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 12-09-2017

As Apple gets ready to launch the iPhone 8, the big question for many consumers is how they can afford to get their hands on the latest in mobile phone technology.

Head of Core Business at Gumtree South Africa, Claire Cobbledick, says not enough South Africans appreciate how much value there is in their old phones.

According to Cobbeldick the average second-hand smartphone on Gumtree sells for R4, 500 which represents a significant subsidy for the purchase of a new iPhone8.

She says most people tend to upgrade their phone and keep their old one gathering dust in the drawer without realizing that it’s a quick and easy way to make a few thousand Rand back.

“No matter how old your iPhone is, there’s someone out there who wants to buy it”.

Over 1 million South Africans visit Gumtree’s electronics section every month searching mainly for smartphones and laptops.

Cobbledick says the re-sale price of the individual phone will depend on how well it has been looked after.
