The former wife of Shiraaz Mohamed says she fears the photojournalist may have stumbled upon something which may be the very reason he remains in captivity.
Mohamed was abducted near the border with Turkey almost six months ago as he was returning home after accompanying the Gift of the Givers on a humanitarian mission.
No group has claimed responsibility for his kidnapping nor has a ransom been demanded.
Shaaziya Brijlal says the silence about Mohamed’s abduction is deafening.
“The 10th of July is going to be six months already. For me its very frustrating, we would like some answers it has become unbearable. Six months is a long time and we’re not sure what is going on. My concern is nobody seems to have a handle on this.”
Brijlal says the South African government also needs to act and take firm action in obtaining information on the whereabouts of Mohamed and getting him back to South Africa.
