Sheikh Bassiouni Wishes Muslims Well Over Ramadan

Sheikh Abdul Salaam Jad Bassiouni the founder of the Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre in Lenasia has conveyed salutations to South Africa and wished Muslims well during the holy month of Ramadan.

In an exclusive first interview since his release from the Tora Prison in Egypt on the 29th of March, Bassiouni told ITV Networks that he thanks South Africans for their support and wished them well.

Bassiouni who was arrested by Egypt’s national security at Cairo airport in early December 2014 with his son Bilal after flying to Egypt for his daughter’s engagement was released after almost 485 days in detention.

“May Allah reward you manifold, may you prosper throughout the year especially during Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak to all. I ask Allah to make this a prosperous year for my brethren in South Africa and Muslims in all four corners of the globe”

Bassiouni also prayed for the safety and security and peace and protection of all Muslims.

While Bassiouni has been freed, the 65-year-old has not yet been allowed to travel or return back to South Africa by the Egyptian authorities.
