Security, Emergency & Medical Personnel to Honour Firemen Killed in Joburg Fire

September 12, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 12-09-2018

Hundreds of representatives from private security companies and emergency medical providers will today meet to honour the firemen who passed away in the Johannesburg CBD fire.

The three firefighters died last week while trying to extinguish a blaze at the Lisbon Bank Building which was being used by public servants.

Other law enforcement agencies are also expected to join the convoy that will leave from Huddle Park in Linksfield this morning, and head towards the Standard Bank Arena.

Families and colleagues of the firemen are expected to lead the procession that will move from the arena to the Lisbon Bank Building where a wreath laying ceremony will take place.

Vision Tactical’s Yaseen Theba says members of the convoy will create a guard of honour on the route to salute the fallen heroes.

“Last weeks tragedy, while it was tragic and disheartening to see the loss of three firemen, I think seeing so many people working together trying to support the existing firemen that were onsite is encouraging and we as security companies medical response companies, we’re all coming together to honour those three men so that we can give strength to their families and to their colleagues.”
