Saudi Embassy in The Hague Target of Shooting

November 12, 2020

Al Arabiya reports that the Saudi embassy in The Hague, the Netherlands, had been the target of a “cowardly” shooting incident at dawn on Thursday. There were no injuries. Local news outlets reported that about 20 shots were fired at the building.

The road leading to the embassy in The Hague has been closed and additional security measures have since been taken.

Saudi citizens in the Netherlands were urged to practice caution.

Dutch police spokesman Steven van Santen said police were alerted around 6am by embassy security officials to shots having been fired at the building.

According to Al Arabiya several bullet casings were found outside the building and there were bullet holes in the windows.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a World War I commemoration attended by European officials was attacked in Saudi Arabia. It was not immediately clear whether the shooting was linked to Wednesday’s incident in the Kingdom, in which at least three people were injured.
