Saudi Delegation Looking To Mitigate Kashmiri Conflict Between Neighbours India and Pakistan

February 20, 2019

Radio Islam International – 2019/02/20

An Associate Professor at the Centre for West Asian Studies told Radio Islam that the Saudi delegation who are currently in India on an official state visit – are looking to address the intensifying conflict in Kashmir, which has put neighbours India and Pakistan at loggerhead for decades.

Dr Sujata Ashwarya says Saudi’s Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir was quoted as saying that, “Saudi Arabia would want to work towards mitigating tension between the two countries.”

Ashwarya says the Indian people are looking forward to seeing what stance the Saudi Arabian government takes on the conflict in Kashmir.

Last week, India demanded that Pakistan take “credible and visible action” over a major suicide attack in Kashmir as it rebuffed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s offer of help in investigating the bombing.

Yesterday, PM Imran Khan said India “levelled allegations against Pakistan without any evidence” after New Delhi accused its spy agency of involvement in last week’s deadly attack on security forces in the disputed region of Kashmir.
